Based on feedback from the Melbourne Incubator play session, the smog mechanic has been removed. This means that Volcanoes activate straight away, and result in instant feedback of getting to claim the empty tile.
This also means that the turn loop order has changed, being updated from:
- Progress all lava flows
- Buy and place a tile
- Move a critter
- Claim all empty tiles
- Offer a sacrifice
- Collect resources
to
- Move a critter
- Buy and place a tile (activate volcanoes, unlock powers)
- Claim all empty tiles
- Offer a sacrifice
- Collect resources
- Progress all lava flows
Moving the critter first, feels a little more thematically sensible that you can move out of the way before setting off a volcano.
Claiming directly after placing and setting off a volcano makes it feel a little more satisfying to do. The gap between placing critters after tiles meant people commented it felt a bit disconnected.
Colour updates
The online version now is in more accesible colours (light, medium, dark) (Unless the player goes for red (on green)). My phone goes into night time black and white mode, and I was happily able to play through a whole game. Now just need to update the…ENTIRE rulebook. Ah humbug.
Craftier critters
Everyone can default summon 2 tiles, IF the first tile was placed on a soil tile. Thematically - because these soils are ripe n ready to be used and don’t require as many resources/mana.
Should I call it mana instead of resources? Mana for summoning makes a bit more sense.
You could definitely do interesting things by adding more, allowing different combos of resources to do diferent things.
Accidentally moved the rulebook into the img folder
That broke the rules for a while there. Ooops. Sorry about that.
