Printing off the helper, summary and power cards

It’s kind of funny when something that was requested so early in the creation of the game takes me so long to finalise. It was identified very early on that a turn summary and a cost reminder card would be beneficial as the complexity of the game was stepping up. I designed basic cards and then some styled ones digitally not long after, but some 1.5yrs into development, I printed off these copies.

Up until this moment I had been rolling with a piece of paper with the turn order written down, which hey, did the job!

If it ain’t broke etc etc.

I was also able to run another playtest with a bunch of friends, they are quite avid boardgamers and it was interesting to see two quite ‘aggressive’ playstyles interract.

Burrowing critters were not utilised once by any player as their main goal were (after asking in the endgame) ‘more resources equalled more volcanoes and tiles so we didn’t see the point’ which is absolutely valid. It does lend me to thinking that maybe a critter can be protect from a volcano target. But you can only have 2 burrowed at any one time?

The main use of burrowing is to hold onto tallest tower/largest biome. Though the towers can’t become taller when something is burrowed on it, so I believe that will self-balance.

A ‘How to Score Points’ Card

This is crucial. Why had I not made this yet??

Boosted to the top of the to do.

Drawing the cover

I have been working very slowly away at an illustration. I am excited with how it’s looking so far. Might share over Christmas!
