Lazy notes and deep thoughts
In defense of Uno tile, two words - land bridge
I like that this is an option, coupled with herding critters did wonders for Blue in one game recently. So my current thoughts are yes, but make them super limited in terms of count (drop from 12 to 6). The rarity matches the rarity of their use, but also helps justify the cost.
Packs and Herds rule clarifications
Pack critter/Herd critter power requires some clarification of how it applies when moving onto a large biome.
To create a herd, when you move the critter on to the ’target’ herd biome, it instantly becomes a ‘herd’. This also occurs if the critter that moved onto the ’target’ biome is not on the same tile.
A herd can move individually or as one unit. Though each of these actions cost your 1 x move action (otherwise it would be completely OP).
This means herds can be spread out across a large biome to protect it + generate the bonus resources.
Herding clarification - each herd can only generate 1 bonus resource and 1 bonus pt?
Moving onto a massive herd has the benefit of being able to free adjacent tiles. Herds can be spread out to protect a large biome
Pack Critters
Burrowing protects from a pack? I’m not entirely convinced. I don’t think Pack Critters is over powered and burrowing a critter thematically would necessarily protect it from a pack.
In the games we’ve been playing with pack critters shows it isn’t used that often as the movement is quite obviously ’telegraphed’ where they are going to strike next and can be mitigated by a volcano. If agile, or even more dangerously, flying critters, was in play, that would make it a far more viable, very dangerous strategy.
How do you know if a pack is hunting or herding?
Should be quite easily answered with if they have the passive power or not.
If you have both powers, it should be both. This is very powerful, but as they’re often on opposite sides of the power grid - rarely both are unlocked. This is where ‘rushing’ to the Lvl 5 power is quite the mind game tactic.
Volcanic winter rule clarifications
Can one be migrated into an ice area? I think yes..? no.
Volcanic Winter/Super Volcanic must be claimed before roll.
Cannot move sea critters onto frozen land.
Frozen edges are not wild biomes.
If you have 2 x 3 tile biomes vs another player’s 1 x 3 tile biome do you win? I think yes. This would make it the same as
Should volcanic winter unlock and activate straight away - most recent game felt like yes.
Lateral Eruption straight into water - becomes soil when you would generally roll the dice.

Unchecked volcanoes completely undid the other 2 players.
Rotations rotations rotations
It’s too much. It’s a fun power, but it shouldn’t be the default of a volcano - they’re already powerful enough. (The above games did not utilise).
Burrowing critters
I thought I’d already simplified this, but maybe not. Here’s the old rules (they have since been updated, please check the rulebook):
A land tile can be placed on top of the burrowed critter but it will not be wiped out, the land tile must contain a biome that the burrowed critter was previously in. After placing the tile, the burrowed critter will emerge on to the same biome.
A volcano tile can be place on top of the burrowed critter but it will not be wiped out, after the volcano erupts and the lava begins to flow, the burrowed critter will emerge on to the (potentially rotated) new tile.
If lava flows onto a burrowed critter, it will not be wiped out, after the lava progress to a new tile, the critter will emerge onto its original biome.
If lava is on top of a burrowed critter during the player’s turn who owns the critter, they cannot emerge the critter or interact with it in any way.
