Burrowing critters

Suggested unlock slot: L2-3

During your ‘Move a critter’ step, you may choose one of your critters on the board and burrow it by flipping its token over. This is a bonus action and does not replace your standard critter movement.

While a critter is burrowed, the following rules apply:

  • It cannot be moved, migrated, or evacuated by any means.

  • Burrowed critters do not collect any resources during the ‘Collect resources’ step.

A volcano tile can be place on top of the burrowed critter will still removes the critter.

Unstable volcano removed from core ruleset

Optional ruleset - An unstable volcano can only be purchased and played at the reduced price after a stack reaches 4 or more tiles and must be played on one of these stacks, its mechanics operate in the same way.

Put simply, there’s enough going on in the rulebook and this was just confusing things.
