Another weekend down

Some more in person playtesting

We tried playing the revamped Cooperative Critters rule - it was great. It was mean. But it seemed fair. I do wonder though if the game has completely turned, whether this would no longer be fun and just a faster way to stamp out that other player. A get out in front and stay in front situation.

Scoring Condition Player 1* Player 2
Critters 8 8
Connections 9 11
Volcanoes 7 4
Sacrifices 3 1
Bonuses 5 11
Total 31 37

*Player 1 went first

Once the first player unlocked it and made a good play with it, all of a sudden that was the only power the other player wanted to do and quite quickly unlocked it.

The idea of being allowed to spend your final resources for those who didn’t end the game - e.g. upgrading to the Colossal Critter, setting off another volcano.

If Player 1 has the tallest biome (5pts). Then player 2 will inevitably cut that away from them with a volcano.

Or they could upgrade a critter to colossal for 4r and 4pts + trade in 3 resources for a victory point? (5pts)

Trade in 3 x resources for 1pt? (2pts max this way)

The setting off many volcanoes didn’t feel rewarded quite enough.

Could consider a volcano x above volcano score. Instead of points per volcano, points of the amount more volcanoes? That doesn’t sound like it’ll scale well and be too heavy on the volcano side.
